To anyone who likes to go out and catch some live music and maybe earn money, there seems to be a lack of original songs by artists. I frequent the Virginia Highlands and Buckhead and hearing an original song is rare. Not long ago I tried giving a demo of my music to the bar owner of "MoonDogs." He asked me what covers were on the CD and I told him there are none on the CD, its all my music but explained that I can do plenty of covers. He then proceeded to hand the CD back to me and told me to bring back a CD with only covers on it. What an idiot, I can bring in 30 people on a weeknight but he has the same decent guy up there playing covers and brings no one. Don't get me wrong, I play many covers, but doesn't anyone appreciate creativity anymore?

Yea, I know exactly what you mean. It's very rare these days to go to a bar and hear a random singer/songwriter or unknown band play there own music. I'm not sure what the answer to this problem is, maybe I need to open up my own bar and come up with some original idea to bring the creativity of musicians as well as have a successful business into one place.
